Buying Leads VS. Building A Brand

What's the best way to grow a home services business? This has been a question that I've been obsessed with for the last couple of years. When we launched our agency back in 2019, we knew we wanted to be different. We needed to be different. Why? Because the old way of thinking just wasn't cutting it. We were watching hundreds of contractors getting burned by lead generators and marketing agencies trying to sell them leads or booked appointments with all these fancy "guarantees"

So my team and I began searching for the better way. How can home services contractors grow their company each month without having to keep buying poor-quality leads that never seem to convert.

Through our research, we noticed the the large majority of companies that were succeeding and "winning" in the area were those with a solid brand presence. Meaning, these guys had effective websites, Google My Business pages, Facebook pages, and amazing reviews from previous homeowners who they worked with.

Through our conversations with contractors, we've found that every single company who paid for leads or worked with a lead generator was unsatisfied with the results and had wasted thousands of dollars on these "out-dated" marketing tactics.

So it was simple. The successful companies had a great brand and reputation in their community, while the companies that were struggling were just focused on buying more leads or working with a company that had some magical silver bullet.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no magical secret bullet. And anyone promising you a silver bullet, you should probably run away from them. Far, far away.

The number one focus of your company needs to be staying top-of-mind and relevant in your local area. I mean positioning your company as the #1 specialist in your area. That means creating educational content, sharing answers to frequently asked questions, introducing your team, and always adding value to the lives of homeowners.

Below are some things to consider when it comes to building a successful brand . . .

Step 1: Claim Your FREE Google My Business Page. This will help homeowners find out about you and your company when they are searching for contractors in their area.

Step 2: Setup a Facebook Business Page and Start Posting Content. It's one thing to have a Facebook Page, but it's another thing to post often and engage with your community.

Step 3: Get More Google Reviews. Google uses past reviews and feedback as a ranking factor in search results. Often times the companies with the most and best reviews show up higher than others.

Step 4: Be Involved. You are a LOCAL services company. Meaning, you serve homeowners within a certain area and community. Get involved in your local community events and begin sponsoring or showing up to events on behalf of your company.

Step 5: Take Action. This one might sound simple, but many contractors will read this article and not take the action required to see success. If you're too busy, that's okay. Hire someone or some company to do this for you. If you want our team to help, then just click here.

If you implement these above tactics, I promise you you'll begin to start seeing success. Long-term success. These actions will set you and your team up for many years to come and you'll start having more and more homeowners asking to work with you each month.

I hope this helps as you continue on this journey of growing your company. Remember, this game is a marathon, not a sprint. Build your company for the long-term, not the short-term. To many of us are looking for instant gratification and when it doesn't happen immediately, we get discouraged.
